Reef fishing Key West has the most abundant options. Definitely the most “food fish friendly” fishing we offer. Fishing the reef is over all the best option for bringing home filets of the best we have in seafood. Either take the fish to our local Hook and Cook or ship it home. Either way, eat well. 5 species of grouper and 5 species of snapper including the yellowtail snapper. This and the possibility of wahoo and black fin tuna. All are amazing table fare. Add that to fun sport fish such as sailfish, barracudas, mackerel and jacks. The fun that can be had on a Key West reef fishing trip is amazing.
About Reef Fishing Charters
When Reef fishing Key West the boats we use are mostly center console fishing boats. Ranging in size from 27 – 40 ft in length rigged with twin and triple engines. Most guides offer 4, 6, and 8 hour length trips and some offer 10 hour days for longer trips to the Dry Tortugas Fishing. These boats are fast for the long hauls they have to make for the best in reef fishing. Some offer bathrooms – best to ask when booking your fishing charter.
The reefs off Key West are as close as 2 miles and some captains run as far as 75 miles to Waters less traveled. The reefs are home to hundreds of species of fish and the predators that prey on them. Huge and full of life with many angling opportunities to be had.
Wreck and Reef Fishing Anglers throughout the year can expect to fish for species such as Sailfish, Tuna, Wahoo, Kingfish, Mackerels, Yellowtail Snappers, Mutton Snappers, Gray Snappers, Sharks, Permit, Cobia, Black, Red, Gag and Goliath groupers, Amber Jacks and so many more.
